For the family
Updating the website
Everything that changes often — opening hours, the menu, prices, phone number and email — lives in one small file called site-data.js. Edit that one file and every page of the site updates. No login, no password to lose, nothing to break on the pages themselves.
The three steps
Open site-data.js in any text editor — Notepad on Windows, TextEdit on Mac. Nothing special is needed.
Change only the text between the quotation marks "…". Leave the quotes, commas and brackets exactly as they are.
Save the file and re-publish the site the same way it was uploaded. The new hours, prices and dishes appear on every page.
Example — changing a price
A dish in the file looks like this. To change the price of the lobster taco from 3.200 to 3.400, you would only touch the number at the end:
{ name: "Lobster taco",
desc: "Langoustine, dates, salsa, mayo, chilli",
price: "3.400" },
To remove a dish, delete its whole block from { to },. To add one, copy an existing block, paste it below, and change the words. The opening hours and phone number work the same way — they are near the top of the file with notes explaining each line.
If something looks wrong
Don't worry — nothing is lost. It almost always means a quote mark or comma was accidentally deleted. Undo your last change (Ctrl+Z / Cmd+Z), save again, and it will come back. Keeping a copy of the file before editing is a good habit.
